Tom Coffing has lived an exciting life showing off incredible range and versatility, including becoming an NCAA All-America wrestler for the University of Arizona, winning two regional Olympic trials in 1980, winning the Toastmasters National Championship as a humorous speaker, and multiple acting awards.

However, Tom Coffing has recently been named one of the top 50 cloud influencers by the Cloud Computing Learner Community.

Tom Coffing said, “My passion for the last 30 years has been to educate the world on database architectures and SQL and provide the best query, migration, and database integration tools to help customers migrate and join data across all clouds.”

Coffing has taught over 1,000 on-site and virtual classes throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, China, India, Africa, and Europe. Tom is famous for never using name tags because of his ability to memorize every student’s name before each class begins.

Coffing has written over 90 books on all database architectures, performance tuning, SQL, and load utilities, including 50 books on all aspects of Teradata, earning him the nickname Tera-Tom.

Tom has also developed over 200 videos on YouTube (CoffingDW channel) to teach students everything from Teradata, Netezza, SQL, and Python, and he has thousands of blogs on his CoffingDW website.

Tens of thousands of customers use Tom’s Nexus software to migrate data to the cloud, join data across all cloud and on-premises systems, and query all systems in their enterprise.

Coffing said, “Only a small portion of the population makes it to the top of the mountain to big data. Like myself, everyone struggles to understand the complexities of big data, but I love explaining how things work so I can help catapult individuals with the power of understanding.”
