The Secrets to Seamless Integration Across All Database Platforms

Someone recently asked me, “What are the secrets of Nexus’s seamless integration across all systems?”
You have to get everything right. Databases were never meant to communicate and cooperate. How each database creates tables, builds objects, and loads data is radically different. So, you have to understand each database completely and master these fundamentals.
In other words, no mortal can integrate systems quickly and easily, so you must build software that automates everything so the users can point-and-click their way to seamless integration.
The first sign that integration will fail is if a user with no technical knowledge cannot migrate data with the click of a button. How did we master that aspect?
We have worked on converting tables (DDL) between systems for over a decade. Converting tables from one database to another takes companies months if not years, and we completely convert across every database in seconds.
We then use each database vendor’s load utilities to import and export data and build the scripts automatically in seconds. Users pick the source and target systems and checkmark the table(s) they want to move.
The misery of data movement through utilities is that when you execute a load utility job, the data moves from the source system to the target system through your PC since that is where you executed the job. It is a great philosophy for midsize levels of data but not reasonable for hundreds of millions or rows. So, we have a Nexus Server where users load Nexus Server software to schedule jobs on the Nexus Server when high speed is needed.
You must also invest much R&D into making each user’s Nexus a magician for data integration. Each user’s Nexus is so smart that it can show tables and views visually and the user’s point-and-click. Nexus builds the SQL automatically across all systems perfectly every time.
Nexus will also build all analytics for each database in seconds so users can run the analytic functions on the database. Still, Nexus can also take returning answer sets and deliver the same analytic functions while Nexus does all of the calculations.
Nexus is so smart that users can drag an answer set to their system tree, and Nexus will create a table with the data on that system. Or you can schedule SQL to run on one system and automatically save it as a table on any other system.
Once you do these things perfectly, you can join data across systems as easily as if you were joining data on a single system.
