Tom Coffing, better known as Tera-Tom, is the founder of Coffing Data Warehousing where he has been CEO for the past 30 years.  Tom has written over 90 books on all aspects of Teradata, Oracle, IBM DB2, Netezza, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Yellowbrick, Vertica, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, and Greenplum.  Tom has taught over 1,000 Teradata classes in places such as India, Africa, Europe, China, Malaysia, and throughout North America.

Tom is also the owner and designer of the Nexus Query Chameleon, the most sophisticated enterprise query tool in the industry.  The Nexus integrates seamlessly across all database platforms, including Excel and Microsoft Access. Nexus has the most seamless data integration because of the 19-year evolution that continues with the goal of 100% integration across all databases. Tom’s development team started by building a system tree to show all objects for each database and built a syntax app to take SQL and query every system. The Nexus could then show tables and views visually and allow users to point and click and SQL is automatically built across all systems. The development team then began migrating data across all systems, perfecting table (DDL) conversion, and mastering building load utility scripts across all systems. Only then did Nexus all the pieces to perform federated queries and join data, regardless of which databases the tables and views reside in.  Coffing then topped it off by allowing companies to load Nexus Server software, which allowed users to do everything on their PC but gave them the option to execute jobs requiring large data movement or analytics on the Server.

In High School, Tom was the first athlete from his school to ever place at state.  He was selected by his school to represent them at Buckeye Boys State, and Tom was inducted into the first class of the Lakota High School Hall of Fame.

At the University of Arizona and University of Nevada Las Vegas, Tom was a two-time All-American wrestler, Sophomore Athlete of the year, and a two-time winner of the 1980 Olympic wrestling trials.  Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications.

After college, Tom became a state and national champion speech winner for Toastmasters and won two orchid awards as an actor.  Tom is the proud father of three wonderful children and has been married for the past 42 years.
